(1) Using a glass vacuum filtration device, particles were filtered onto a 25 mm, 0.65 µm PVDF filter membrane. (2) Photomicrographs were captured under darkfield illumination in order to determine the quantity and morphological parameters of the transferred MPs. (3) All particles on the examined filter were subsequently flushed with ultrapure Milli-Q water, into a 40 mL glass bottle. The content of the bottle was then poured, flushed and filtered onto another PVDF filter membrane. This process was repeated four times for each sample
