The unpaired means (effect magnitude) are symbolized by circles and triangles and the corresponding confidence intervals (CIs; effect precision) by the vertical, black lines. The sampling error distribution is presented as a grey curve. Negative (arrow head pointing downwards) and positive (arrow head are pointing upwards) effects are colored in black whereas neutral effects (circle) are colored in grey.
